YOU DO NOT HAVE TO FIGHT WITH SIN

Updated: Nov 24

14 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.

Romans 6:14

21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

2 Corinthians 5:21

As a result of Jesus' death on the cross, you do not need to struggle or battle sin. In the Old Testament, sin was a major problem. In one case, God punished a man for his sin, while in another case, God ignored another man's sin. His role as a righteous judge should be the same in both cases. Numbers 15:32 talks about a man who gathered wood on the Sabbath. He was asked to be stoned by the whole congregation by God. David was also another man in the Old Testament who sinned and killed a woman’s husband knowingly. Despite David's deserved death, God did not kill him. Giving a blind eye to a man’s sin was a problem for God in the Old Testament. According to the verse below, God reconciled us with himself through his sacrifice on the cross.

25 whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed,

26 to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.

Romans 3:25,26

When a man has a long list of past mistakes, it is hard to accept that God can justify him. Jesus Christ's sacrifice makes a man righteous, but we often easily question how God calls someone righteous. As a result, God provides us with a beautiful explanation of how He demonstrated His righteousness in doing so. The answer is The Cross where Christ took all our punishment and sins as our sacrifice of atonement. We are now forgiven and justified because he took our place. If someone asks you how you are justified, show them the Cross. Now, God does not find it hard to forgive us. It is the redemption that Christ Jesus brought that is the reason God points to.

It is common for us to talk a lot about problems. We create real problems by continuously talking about it. If you talked more about Jesus, there will be complete deliverance from sin. It is not comfortable for a true child of God to continue in sin. By his death, Jesus paid the full penalty for sin. As a result of Jesus' glorious sacrifice, the problem of sin is ended and we are brought into newness of life. We are now greater than satan and sin. Sin is a thing of the past. Learn full well what God’s Word talks about you so that you will not be swayed by your thoughts of imperfection. You will then be able to walk in faith.

6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin.

7 For he who has died has been freed from sin.

 Romans 6:6-7

Let me explain myself through this incident. During a youth meeting, a minister asked me to translate for him.

He preached on the magnitude of sin in the current generation happening through the internet and smartphones. A few of the known youth came after the message and told me how they discovered the amount of sin today. Preaching sin in its entirety is not necessary. We need to preach Jesus.

The problem tends to grow larger if we keep discussing it over and over again.  It is imperative that we speak about the solution.

Another day, I had the opportunity to preach in a large church. A minister led the praise, worship and sermon for 30 minutes. Up until he sang, everything was fine. The preacher began by talking about how God would judge you as he began to preach. In detail, he explained how God will judge you for every sin you commit and hold you accountable for every minute you don't spend with God. A lot of emphasis was placed on the idea that God would turn away from them and forsake them. As I listened to this minister's sermon, I was surprised to find that he did not use one verse from the Bible. However, many people regard this as the most genuine message. I wondered how I could lift up the people after listening to such great condemnation for the past 30 minutes.

The purpose of ministering is to preach Christ and lift the people out of whatever mess or circumstance they find themselves in. In our sermon, we give an account of every soul that is cast down (As we preach to God’s people, we give an account to God for every soul we cast down). This Grace has been given to us by God to preach Hope to the precious souls purchased by the blood of Jesus. In the eyes of The Lord, each person who listens to us is extremely valuable.

We don’t have a fight with sin anymore. When we speak Jesus over and over and over again, all sin disappears. We learn who we are in Christ Jesus. In Christ, we must know where we stand. I always tell the teenagers to be with Jesus, hold His hand, meditate and stand on His Word.

16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

Galatians 5:16

How can a young person walk uprightly? People will say that you will walk in the Spirit if you don’t walk in sin. We see the opposite in the above verse. A person who walks in the Spirit will not satisfy the desires of the flesh.

A sister told me how she does not let her husband come to the church unless he gave up snuff. I told her to bring him to church with her. The church is open for such people. The church is where the solution is. If he continues to attend, the problem will automatically leave him. He will become accustomed to walking in the Spirit. By walking in the Spirit, he will no longer carry on in the ways of the flesh. Stop seeing all the problems of sin and start seeing our Lord Jesus. As you keep beholding Jesus at all times, the darkness will eventually leave.
