You don't have a fight with God. God is not your enemy but your closest friend. People often claim that they have fought with God and prevailed in prayer. Jacob's incident inspires them to fight with God all night to receive their blessing.
22. And he arose that night and took his two wives, his two female servants, and his eleven sons, and crossed over the ford of Jabbok.
23. He took them, sent them over the brook, and sent over what he had.
24. Then Jacob was left alone; and a Man wrestled with him until the breaking of day.
25. Now when He saw that He did not prevail against him, He touched the socket of his hip; and the socket of Jacob’s hip was out of joint as He wrestled with him.
26. And He said, “Let Me go, for the day breaks.”
But he said, “I will not let You go unless You bless me!”
27. So He said to him, “What is your name?”
He said, “Jacob.”
28. And He said, “Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for you have struggled with God and with men, and have prevailed.”
Genesis 32:22-28
A minister once shared his experience while attending a prayer meeting. The pastor announced that they were going to break the gates of heaven all night. There were shouts of prayer, jumping, and movement among the congregation. Kicking all night in prayer might have felt like a blessing to them. Sometimes, our prayers do not even reach the roof if not done in alignment with The Word of God. Regardless of how hard you fight with God; God will bless your life.
(No matter of fighting with God will affect the desired blessing in your life)
(Fighting with God won't stop you from receiving the desired benefit in your life)
16. The city is laid out as a square; its length is as great as its breadth. And he measured the city with the reed: twelve thousand furlongs. Its length, breadth, and height are equal.
Revelation 21:16
In this passage, God tells us the city's length and width measure 1500 miles. Imagine we are outside the city's gates, with God in the midst of it. It would mean we are 750 miles away from God trying to break the city gates of heaven. Would it be possible to shout at someone 750 miles away from where you are? We will not even be heard if we shout or scream from such a distance.
16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Hebrews 4:16
God, in His sovereign authority, commanded us to approach boldly and receive from Him. Do not keep standing outside the city gates, begging God. My son does not stand outside my house and tell me, "Father, I am breaking the doors of the house." My son has the freedom to open the doors of the house and come in at any point in time. It would irritate me if my son broke into my house. Fixing it requires an increased expenditure on my part. As a result of Jesus' finished work on the cross, the veil has been torn apart. We have the access and the sonship to cry out, "Abba, father." boldly. Some people are still striving to stand at the door and break it to reach God
21 The twelve gates were twelve pearls: each individual gate was of one pearl. And the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.
22 But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.
23 The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light.
24 And the nations of those who are saved shall walk in its light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honor into it.
25 Its gates shall not be shut at all by day (there shall be no night there).
Revelation 21:21 -25
We read that the gates are never shut, so why would you knock on the door? Whenever you come for prayer, don't come to fight and prevail. Come with a consciousness that there is ever-open heaven above you. Isaiah 30:18 says, "So the Lord wants to show you kindness. He waits on high to have loving-pity on you. For the Lord is a God of what is right and fair. And good will come to all those who hope in Him."
Your loving heavenly father is waiting for you. Even before you utter a single word, your prayers are answered. God knows your prayers. You are not going to beg a stranger. You are coming boldly to your father. Jacob prevailed to get a blessing. All spiritual blessings have already been given to the New Testament believer, so he does not have to fight. You do not have to fight with God.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,
Ephesians 1:3
The spiritual realm is where every material blessing manifests before it manifests in the physical world (natural realm). When God blessed us with every spiritual blessing - it includes all spiritual and all physical blessings. God is a Spirit, and He created a world that is seen. In the beginning, the Earth was formless and void. God said, "Light be", and the light was. At that time, where was the light? It is God himself who is Light, and His kingdom is the kingdom of Light. The Word of God brought light into this physical world from the unseen spiritual realm.
Start speaking the abundant and perfect blessings of God into your life today. It will bring those blessings from the unseen spiritual realm to the physical realm where we can experience them. Instead of asking God to bless you, start declaring continually that you are the Blessed of God. You will see God's hand of overflow in your life. You will see sickness and the diseases being healed. You will see pains leaving your body.
Jacob's name means seizing (holding someone's leg), supplanter. He was holding onto Esau's leg even while being born. He was not just someone who held the leg but also someone who pulled the leg. That is why Jacob's name means supplanter. God changed his name to Israel (A prince as God) when he replied that his name was Jacob - (a cheater and a supplanter). You might think he received it because he fought with God. As you can see from the verse below, you have received it without fighting with God.
5. and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth.
To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood,
6. and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
Revelation 1:5-6
From the above verse, the below questions can be answered.
Who is faithful?
Who was the firstborn from the dead?
Who loved us?
Who freed us?
Who washed us by his blood?
Who made us be kingdom priests?
It was all Jesus! It was His Goodness, His kindness, His mercy, His love, His Grace. Only our sins had held us captive, which He freed us from. We don't have any good thing about ourselves. All blessings have come to us without us having to fight God. In every way, it was based on what Jesus had done.
You might be given a junior or associate position when you join a company. Eventually, you will earn your promotion after proving your worth to them. Right from the start, God made us kings and priests in this heavenly kingdom. Our kingly status did not require any advancement from a junior position.
On one occasion, I was traveling to preach, and I had to catch the last bus even though it was heavily packed. I managed to find a seat at the back. The driver was a bit reckless with his driving. The effect of the fast bus on every bump was felt in the last seat. Even as the bus kept throwing me up and down, I kept boldly confessing that I am a king and a priest. I didn't ask God "How long do you want me to travel in these old buses for ministry?".
God made you a king and a priest to Him, regardless of where you are or what your bank balance or wallet tells you. It will always be the devil's practice to tell you that you are nothing more than trash and worthless. The devil will claim that you serve no purpose and are insignificant, but he is a liar.
You are a priest and a king. Get excited about it! Think, act, walk, and speak in that manner. Even if you check your purse and it's empty, rejoice and declare that you are a king. God will visit you and turn your life around. If God be for you, who can be against you?
