His Word is our course correction
16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
2 Timothy 3:16
We can see from the above verse that God's Word exposes our rebellion and corrects our mistakes.
Job said in Job 6:24, “Teach me, and I will hold my tongue; Cause me to understand wherein I have erred.
When we shut our mouths, many problems disappear.
Job accused God 74 times previously, even daring to prove himself righteous (if tested).
As we walk in God's path, we get a little distracted and find ourselves on the wrong path.
In this verse, Job asks God to confront him with the truth, and then he would keep quiet.
Job asked God to show him where he strayed off-track.
The slightest deviation from a course by even 1 cm can cause an airplane to land in the sea if it is not corrected. It is sometimes the smallest deviations that drown us in the long run, even when we find them to be too small.
God's Word changes our course when we receive the right revelation.
This is what John Alexander Dowie found, “God is the healer and satan is the defiler”.
There were many thousands of people who came into that right revelation light in those days and were completely healed.
There are some who believe Satan was roaming the earth minding his own business when God appeared and asked what the occasion was - then God asked if he saw a righteous man named Job. They believe God called Satan to have a conversation because he was bored.
If a magician sees a man doing well, he will call the devil and ask him to finish the man's story. That is called sorcery.
God did not treat Job in such a way. Our people begin writing songs about the devil testing us on God's orders.
In light of scripture, how can we resist the devil when he came with God's order? Many people believe God is the divine orchestrator who allows evil to happen, and take life's blows and live at the mercy of life's circumstances.
31 And the Lord said, “Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat.
32 But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.”
Luke 22:31-32
It was Satan who asked Jesus to break Peter down into ashes rather than refine him as gold. I once heard a preacher say that Jesus was sleeping in the boat when the storm arose.
It was even in his sleep that God made the boat shake violently to toss his disciples from one direction to the other."
Such things are untrue, yet we hear them all the time.
In the midst of storms, He is the One who stands up and commands peace.
May the God of peace bless your life from now on if you've been tossed around by life's troubles. The God we serve is a good God. Jesus refused to let Satan sift Peter as wheat when he asked Jesus to do so. Jesus prayed for Peter. Jesus Christ is our high priest, seated at God's right hand, always interceding for us. He will not let us down. Not only did he pray, but he also told the disciples to pray that they would not be tempted. If we do not pray for at least an hour a day, then we are the ones who allow temptations in our life.
It is already in God's Word that he tells us how to overcome temptations. We can always count on him, he will never let us down.
God did not cause evil or take Job's possessions, but God enabled and permitted these things to occur." Let us see from the Bible the cause of what happened and who really allowed it.
25 For the thing I greatly feared has come upon me,And what I dreaded has happened to me.
Job 3:25
He never encountered anything he didn't fear. It was Job's fear that led to the fulfilment of his fears. All throughout, Job was constantly afraid he would lose his seven sons, three daughters, seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred teams of oxen, five hundred donkeys, and a huge staff of servants. Fear nothing. When fear attacks, always give everything to God.
As of the time my eldest daughter joined school, she was my only child. Another business appointment awaited me. Since I had to prepare, I was late dropping her off at school. The gates were closed and assembly had begun. Her teacher signalled me to leave her in the gate so she could take care of her. From there, I drove fast to reach my business appointment and a mini bus crossed my path at high speed. When such buses crossed outside, I was worried if my daughter would be safe. I prayed and committed her into God's hands. The moment I picked her up in the evening, she was happy to see me. Fear will bind us if we don't let God handle everything. Fear attracts to us what we fear.
26 I am not at ease, nor am I quiet;I have no rest, for trouble comes.”
Job 3:26
A man of upright character, Job feared God and shunned evil. Among all the men of the east, Job was the greatest. In the above verse, we can see how he lived despite the presence of children around his table and servants working for him.
He wasn't at ease, nor was he at rest before he lost everything. He was not at ease or at rest when he was covered with boils having lost everything including his health. In both instances, he was in trouble.
This was Job’s thinking. His thoughts were always filled with fear that the God who had given him everything might take it away as well.
Consequently, he gradually lost his joy. Today, we can delight and rejoice because our God is good. Make this thought a part of your everyday thoughts: God is good.
Jesus triumphed over the world by defeating Satan and overthrowing the devil. Jesus crushed the devil’s head. Victory is ours through Jesus.
But He knows the way that I take; When He has tested me, I shall come forth as gold.
Job 23:10
It is often said that God will continue to refine us until we are like pure gold from this verse. The further we read, the clearer it becomes whether Job became gold or covered himself in ashes. Fire, heat, scratches, falls, pain, and suffering are believed to be God's means of refining people.
1 Then Job answered and said:
2 “Even today my complaint is bitter;
My hand is listless because of my groaning.
3 Oh, that I knew where I might find Him,That I might come to His seat!
4 I would present my case before Him,And fill my mouth with arguments.
5 I would know the words which He would answer me,And understand what He would say to me.6 Would He contend with me in His great power? No! But He would take note of me.
Job 23:1-6
Job says in the third verse that he rashly uttered what he did not understand, things too wonderful for him which he did not understand. We see Job said he would come with honours if God examined him. But Job came out repenting in ashes and not as pure gold when he was examined. God asked, ‘Who is this muddying the water, ignorantly confusing the issue, second-guessing my purposes?’ Job admitted that he babbled on about things far beyond me, made small talk about wonders way over my head. I admit I once lived by rumours of you; now I have it all firsthand—from my own eyes and ears. I’m sorry—forgive me. I’ll never do that again, I promise! (Job 42: 1-6 MSG). The man who claimed to pass the exam with honours, came out asking sorry and failing when God examined him. Job admitted that he babbled. Today, we are given 66 books in the Bible to learn from but Job had none. Hence, we cannot live our lives holding onto one saying by Job that claims our God takes away.
An old man was giving tracks to everyone. A woman received it in a hurry but ran behind him to return the tracks. She said she was a bible believing Christian attending church but God took her only child so she does not want Him anymore. Many Christians have been compromised because of this one verse, “the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD”. The Lord gives good and perfect gifts and there is no shadow of turning in Him. He does not give good sometimes and bad sometimes. He is always good and only gives good things. Only satan caused evil. Job did not have the name of Jesus to resist the devil in his day but today the New Testament believer has the right to use the name of Jesus to make effective changes. Whatever the devil brings today, we can stand in the name of Jesus and win. Jesus has already crushed the devil’s head.
In the third verse, Job says he spoke rashly of things he didn't understand, things that were too wonderful for him to grasp. The statement Job made indicates that he would come with honours if God examined him.
