13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”),
14 that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
Galatians 3:13-14
We are Blessed people. As a result of his death on the cross, Jesus became a curse for us. It was through His act of obedience that He gave mankind the blessing. In becoming partakers of God's blessing, we have become new creations. The blessing belongs to us.
Having been born again and made new in Christ Jesus, do we enjoy and experience all the blessings that have been given to us? "No" is the answer most of us would give. How can we make this our reality? The answer is…
GRACE GIVES, FAITH TAKES!!!
Grace did everything for mankind’s redemption 2000 years ago. The only way to accept it is by faith. The good fight of faith begins here.
12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
1 Timothy 6:12
It is the fight of faith that we are commanded to fight in the Bible. The Bible calls it good because we know the end. Every battle is fought for victory. Jesus won the victory for us on the cross 2000 years ago. This victory was given to us by Jesus. Because He loves us, we are already more than conquerors. We are made victors in Christ Jesus. Rather than fighting for victory, we fight from victory. It is this way of life that we live as Christians. Because we are fighting from victory, we do not fear or panic.
Whoever believes will not act hastily.
Isaiah 28:16
Imagine that your body had been afflicted with a disease. You know that Jesus already paid the price and healed your body 2000 years ago. Healing is not what you are trying to achieve. As healed, you are discovering what is rightfully yours. Healing is not something you fight for, since you are already healed. As a result, you won't panic or rush.
Think about if you were participating in a football game and supernaturally knew you would win. How calm would you be during the game? As a participant in this game, you would not be tensed, push other players arrogantly, or scold anyone. It's because you already know what's going to happen in the end.
It is written in the Bible that we are blessed, healed, prosperous, and we are lenders not borrowers. We fight from this position of victory and truth. This is the good fight.
A great storm arose while Jesus was sleeping on the boat. It arose as it was a spiritual battle. On the other side of the sea, in the land of the Gadarenes, Jesus was about to heal a man with unclean spirits. Despite being well experienced fishermen, the apostles panicked because it was spiritual and not physical. As the boat filled up, Jesus was sleeping.
Jesus already knew the victory was His. He knew the end from the beginning. They woke Him up. His reaction was not to call on God to do something. He instead rebuked the wind and commanded the sea to be still. A great calm prevailed. This is what we are called to do.
We don’t have to fight with God. It is not our God who refuses to bless us. He said “Before you call, I will answer; And while you are still speaking, I will hear”. God sent us His own son for the redemption of mankind before we looked up in prayer, raised our hands or even came into this world. Having given up his own Son for us all, how can he then refuse to freely give us everything else through him as well?
